Players: All right, those pesky referees are always on us. But did you ever think about how hard their job is? Let's take a test. What's a hand ball? O.K. this picture is definitely a "hand ball", but now for the real test. Drag the mouse over the picture and tell me if the new picture is a hand ball or not. Well is it?
SOCCER TIP: Why should I learn how to juggle a soccer ball - I never do it in a game?
Most people think that really good players can juggle because they're really good players. First touch is one of the most importnat aspects of soccer. Think how many times in a game you receive a ball from a pass, a steal, a goal kick or clear out. Being able to receive it in control, being able to dribble in control or being able to make acurate passes with the correct speed and distance all comes from having a good touch.
Best way to learn to have a good touch...learn to juggle a soccer ball! It's hard at first, but you'll get the hang of it. So remember, those players aren't good jugglers because they're good players...they're good players because they're good jugglers!
Next time I stop by a practice...I want to see you juggle. Coach Stearns
Many of the Dad's in Bolton played soccer when they were younger. Here's a picture that I found of a couple of them. Do you see your Dad? Also, one of these guys is one of our coaches...do you see your coach?
Laws of the Game Question - test yourself: Can I pass the ball back to my own keeper in the 18 box and have him/her pick it up and then punt it out? Yes or no...think about it before you answer...it may be a trick question...or maybe not.
Come back and visit us later and find out the answer!
